About the Suvarnabhumi-Bangkok International Airport
Suvarnabhumi International Airport is a new airport to replace Don Muang International Airport. Located in Samut Prakan province, Thewa Racha, Bang Phli district, about 25 kilometers east of Bangkok. The name Suvarnabhumi was chosen by King Bhumibol Adulyadej which means golden land. The airport has a control tower with a height of 132.2 meters, making the airport with the world’s tallest control tower.
The vastness of the airport (563 000 square meters) was also made as the Suvarnabhumi airport, which has a broad second single terminal in the world under the Hong Kong International Airport. Also in Asia, Suvarnabhumi International Airport is also under the fourth busiest airport Haneda International Airport, Beijing International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport.
Designed by a German architect Helmut Jahn, the new airport was made with an airy structure design, which looks very futuristic. Read the rest of this entry »
