Mallorca – Where Anchient And Modern Come Together
Mallorca is an island of contrasts. From the bustling capital, Palma, to the many tranquil beaches around its coast, to the extraordinary cliffs and scenery around Déia, a trip here will satisfy any visitor. If you are considering taking a holiday in Mallorca, then read our tips below and find out what Mallorca has to offer.
Palma – the city of delights
Palma is a delightful, if overwhelming, city to visit. The cramped streets of the old town open on to huge modern squares, all surrounded by some stunning architecture. Its main attraction is the cathedral, which dominates the Bay of Palma. From the sea, or from the square, this extraordinary building will enchant any visitor with its imposing grandeur. The area around here is packed with little shops, some for tourists and some which have been with the same family for generations. A look through a shop’s window is just as satisfying as looking up at the building’s facade.
A
trip into history
Mallorca’s two best places to experience are Déia and Soller. Déia is a place of unbelievable beauty, surrounded by cliffs, crags, and the stunning Mediterranean Sea. This is the place where the English poet, Robert Graves, spent his last few years but also brought up his children. They have all continued to distinguished careers, influenced by their upbringing here.
The village has been home to a community of artists, writers, musicians and their acolytes, since the 1950s. To explore is to enjoy. The cliffs and the beaches, where visitors can sit all day and watch the fishing boats, are a sight that will stay in the memory. Relaxing here is the most demanding part of the day.
Soller is easily reached from Palma by Europe’s most unusual train. The route was completed in 1912, after the building of 13 tunnels through the mountains, and ends by descending into Soller from a spectacular view. The carriages were constructed of wood, both inside and out, and perfectly recall the era in which they were built. The obvious care with which they have been preserved is a testament to the island’s pride in its history. The journey takes a stop at a tiny mountainside station, where visitors can admire the view down into Soller’s valley.
Once in Soller, there is a lot to see, but don’t expect to do anything quickly. The town realises it is a tourist attraction, but still retains its authenticity. The pretty church and its peaceful square should not be missed on a visit here. Visitors from major cities may be disappointed by what they think of as slow service in the surrounding bars. In reality, the pace of life is so much slower here, and takes some getting used to.
The town is connected to its port by an electric tram system. Take a trip on this bumpy little road train, built for neither comfort nor speed, and you arrive at the glistening sea. The port is now almost totally dedicated to tourists, but there are still some authentic delights to be found, just a couple of hundred metres away from the sea.
More than bar and beach
Mention Mallorca and most people will think of mass tourism. It’s true that the island has many tourist resorts around its coast, but these can be cleverly used as a cheap and convenient base from which to visit its unspoilt charms. The best way of getting around is on the island’s excellent bus network. Sit back and relax in air-conditioned comfort, gazing at the tranquil countryside, on a visit to one of the delightful market towns, away from the other tourists.
Of course, Mallorca is famous for its beaches, but these vary from the packed resorts to the many delightful little coves, some hardly used at all. So, here you have a choice of enjoyment, where children can play together in a vast arena of sand, or a deserted cove where you can relax and enjoy no sound but the Mediterranean lapping along the shore.
The Crowded Mumbai
In my imagination, India is a very beautiful country like in Bollywood films. Big amazing mansions and beautiful girls are always the icon of India in the movies. But once I get out of Mumbai airport, what I imagine it was wrong. In front of the airport, taxi parking scattered irregularly, in a fleet of sedans wearing the old-eighties as possible. The atmosphere is too chaotic and squalid impressed, many people place so that the smell of urine stinging in some corners at the airport.
After a long of waiting and negotiations finally I get a taxi that drove me to the hotel. The traffic in Mumbai is chaotic and very out of order. Overlap each other, cutting each other, pushing. Read the rest of this entry »

From the unfriendly weather conditions, the consequential health and body condition of people living in it. For example it was me, when I first set foot in the country this pyramid, as it coincides with being the peak of winter, when it is around 10 to 15 degrees Celsius. Just a few hours to live in apartment houses, there is a drastic change that I feel in my body. My skin felt instantly wrinkled directly and chapped lips. Especially at night arrived, although the skin was closed with a leather jacket and had shut the body with a very thick blanket, still very sharp chill to the bone.
Symptoms cracked lips like this was not only experienced by the new kid on the new Cairo adapt to the harsh weather. Parking Road in Cairo
There is one problem that makes the narrow streets of Cairo began to feel that way over the function that should be a place of passing cars into the parking lot. This phenomenon is something that has spread in Cairo and surrounding towns. Official government offices in Egypt, the company also rarely a special parking place for their employees. Even in areas that she said elites such as in Down Town who became the heart of Cairo became the worst hit areas of his body shoulder of the road as a parking lot.
The safest day to avoid heavy traffic on the area of vehicles on the roads is used as a parking lot Friday morning, because, on this day not many cars that operate as a national holiday Egypt. There are also special days that must be very secure that after Maghrib in Ramadan, because at the hour when it was rarely out of the house of Egypt’s people to improve and prepare iftar meals tarawih prayers, it seems from my experience through the streets in Egypt, only two this time most survived.
